Come in immediately if

  • Difficulty breathing, open-mouth breathing in a cat, blue or pale gums
  • Collapse, unconsciousness, a seizure over 5 minutes or repeated seizures
  • Swollen hard belly with repeated retching (gastric torsion)
  • A male cat straining with no urine
  • Ingestion of chocolate, grapes, xylitol, rat bait, lilies or human medication
  • Road accident, fall from height, deep wound, heavy bleeding
  • Repeated vomiting, bloody diarrhoea, unable to keep water down
  • Heatstroke: heavy panting, drooling, temperature above 40°C
  • Straining in labour for over 30 minutes with no puppy or kitten
  • A rabbit or guinea pig not eating or passing droppings for 8 hours; a bird fluffed up on the cage floor

Before you leave

  1. Call 2126 7440 with the signs and your rough arrival time, so we can have oxygen, a stretcher and fluids ready.
  2. Cats and small animals in a secure carrier; large injured dogs flat on a blanket or board, carried by two people.
  3. Bring the packaging of anything eaten, current medication and previous test results.
  4. Do not induce vomiting, give human medication, or feed.
  5. Press a clean towel on bleeding wounds; wet the body with room-temperature water for heatstroke.

What happens on arrival

  1. Triage: a nurse assesses within minutes; critical patients go straight to the treatment room.
  2. Stabilise: oxygen, pain relief and fluids come first, before any paperwork.
  3. Diagnose: in-house X-ray, CT, ultrasound and blood tests with same-day results.
  4. Plan and estimate: once stable, the vet explains the findings and gives a written estimate; further treatment proceeds with your agreement.
  5. Admit or go home: separate cat, dog and isolation wards with visits arranged; discharge comes with written instructions and a follow-up plan.

Fees

The emergency consultation fee is higher than a daytime visit because it covers immediate triage and 24-hour staffing; tests and treatment are charged at the same rates as daytime. A deposit is required for hospitalisation. Cash, card and FPS accepted. See our article on how vet fees work.

  • Light Rail: Tai Tong Road stop, 3-minute walk (routes 610, 614, 615, 761P)
  • MTR: Long Ping Station Exit C, about 10 minutes on foot

  • From Tin Shui Wai or Tuen Mun: 15 to 25 minutes by taxi; Light Rail direct to Tai Tong Road

Light Rail and MTR stop around 00:30; after that, take a taxi. We remain open and the sign at the entrance is lit.
